SC EP:1230 Chased out of our campsite

Red writes “On August 17th, 2023, I was camping with a close friend In Stephen’s state forest in south central Iowa, not far from the Missouri border. It is very remote for the Midwest in that area. There are no electrical lines in this particular forest, so no lights.

My friend and I got into the forest at dusk and set up camp. We saw no vehicles as we drove through the forest and the campsite we stayed at was completely empty.

Twenty minutes or so after setting up camp, we heard an incredibly loud sound from the northwest corner of the camp. It was so loud it made us both jump and all of my hair immediately stood on end. The sound was like a howler monkey whooping, but it sounded like it was the size of a minivan.

Immediately after this, about 150 feet south of us in the tree line, another noise happened. It sounded like Babe Ruth was in the forest slamming a bat against a tree. There were 6 whacks or knocks. They came in 3 successions of twos. Knock knock. Knock knock. Knock knock.

That night we got chased out of the campsite by 3 or 4 of these creatures. It kept me out of the woods for a long time.

    I always listen for the little things: we hear this a lot. Vanta black, almost absorbing light. This is not normal at 35-40’. If you were watching a black bear at this distance, you would see a black bear. Movement thru thick vegetation with absolutely no sound. I don’t care how stealthy one is, if a 500-1000lb being dives into vegetation at a range of 35-40’ it is going to make noise. It’s like they can control our senses or perception within their vicinity. I call this their “sphere of influence”. Inside this “bubble” they control or manipulate sight, sound, and smell.

      This would explain why 2 people, in relative proximity, have different encounters. One hears a whoop while the other one hears nothing, etc. It’s fairly common yet very odd. I think (maybe) when folks hear the forest go completely quiet, it’s actually not the case, it’s just they cannot hear anything for a period of time because they’re in the “sphere”.

    I’m wondering if Red was “tagged” when he had the camping encounter🤔…since he’s having experiences around his now.
    I don’t even know if that can actually occur but I do hear many encounters where the person strongly feels marked or tagged.

    I feel for your son. Please don’t discount his fear. I have seen one of these things and I can’t get it out of my mind. I do believe this thing is demonic.
    I think it could have followed you from your first encounter. You said you hunt for artifacts. Some artifacts have energy attached to them
    These types usually show up in times of emotional upheaval in someone’s life.
    Please ask the Lord to protect your family..
    Hopefully this thing will leave.
    The one I saw showed up when my husband and I were having our worst marital problems my children were going through distress my youngest son was having really bad dreams and issues I was just please be careful and please plead the blood of Jesus over your family I don’t know if you’re a religious man or if you believe in God but they do trust me these things do I don’t mean to upset anybody I just don’t want your son to go through anything he doesn’t have to

    Of course they can be everywhere. Though Iowa seems to get most of its Bigfoot encounters in the far eastern half of the state, especially around the Mississippi River. Im sure the Des Moines River gets it share also. Coyote Man? This seems to be more like a Dogman as opposed to a Bigfoot. I don’t believe you for fearing this kind of entity. Thanks Red for bringing us your expereineces.

    I enjoy following the encounters’ storylines on Google Maps/Earth, when there’s enough specificity provided. Stephens State Forest doesn’t cover a huge area, but it is heavily wooded and relatively rugged, especially for south-central Iowa!

    What a great episode! Thanks Wes, and Red! I love Red’s take on psychic / and creativity! I’ve never thought of it that way!!!!! I’ve always wondered why Sasquatch doesn’t build fires… or prepare food….Butt Red’s explanation explains that!!!!

    @Chad W – I do the same thing. I like to look the areas discussed on Google Earth, it kinda gives me a better perspective of what’s going on.

    This episode was great. This guy is really good at telling a story and creating a picture with words. I almost felt like I was there. Great job man! And very cool encounter! Thanks Wes!

    I haven’t listened to this one yet. I decided to go down and read the comments after I read that it was in Stephen Forest. I know a guy threw a friend. I don’t personally know him met him once a few years ago he lives down around Stephen Forest and his name is red. I wonder if it’s the same guy probably too much of a coincidence I live in Iowa looked into this around 2010. I’ve had two daylight sightings and one nighttime sighting. i’ve had multiple vocalizations one very odd gibberish sound will metal detecting in the forest. They are there here in Iowa I know that for sure I don’t know where they go in the winter time they might go underground. Somewhere down in the comments, somebody’s wondered if you get tagged if you see one I think once they know you, they all know you I heard that said by Laura on night callers a blog talk radio show many years ago. I don’t look into this anymore. I do listen here I do think they’re demonic.

    well, you wouldn’t think that Red is a common name. but it’s not the same guy that I know through a friend I do think it’s the same set of woods though the deer population is enough in Iowa to keep a few of these creatures from roaming Through the state.

    Great show? Thanks Wes and thanks to the guest. Down in the 1000s of acres of public land south east of Woodbury in Ohio we have found multiple tents that have been abandoned. My fiance and I have hammock camped in Mohican but never south of the Mohican State Park. We have been messed with in Mohican but down south of there we were screamed. I think it’s the fact that they don’t run into as many people. In Mohican they’re used to seeing people all year round. Some of those areas it’s mainly hunters that go in there.

    It’s weird you heard the coyotes first and then you couldn’t figure out what the noise was same thing happened to me dude or what you thought might have been coyotes his same kind of Rolodex thing went on in my head

    Great way to explain the difference between mankind and sasquatch by pointing out their “flatfooted” thinking. I agree. Ive often thought one day God will pull me out ot this interest because of the woo part being, in my opinion, dark. Anything that can scare a little boy that badly cant be good and the question becomes focus on this or things that are full of light, so I keep a casual interest. The fact remains, they are real and the question is, for me, why are they here. The Bible talks about monsters coming out of the earth at the end times. Are they being restrained for now? I dont think we want to know why they are here.
